MatrimonyPlanner's Free Online Wedding Planner just got an update, with a lot of new features.

You may now import your Contact lists from GMail/Outlook or any mail client (export your contacts to Outlook format and import them into MatrimonyPlanner) and sending out personalized Email invitations from within MatrimonyPlanner, using template-based/Mail-Merge features. Details below..

Export Contacts from your mail client
Export contacts in the Outlook CSV format. (Shown below is export from GMail)..

Import Contacts to Matrimony Planner
Now save the contacts file in your system and provide it in the import contacts page of MatrimonyPlanner..

Convert Contacts to Guests
Once the contacts are imported into MatrimonyPlanner, you may convert the Contacts to Guests, while also assigning Events, Mode of Invite and Tags...

Add Email Template
Now, add an Email Template for inviting the guest via Email. Note the parameter {{NAME}} used in the content of the email and the "Append Event Details" option enabled in the template...

Use Template to Send Invitation Emails
You may use this template in the Guest list view, to send out emails...

When sending emails to the guests using the above template, the templates parameters will get replaced. Also the event details, for all events to which the template has been associated to, will be appended. Such an Email is shown below..

Links added as a footer to the email are also displayed in the email details. This includes options to report of possible wrong email-ids and RSVP links.

Enable Guest to Respond back (RSVP) :
When the guest receives the email, they can click on the RSVP link to add their response.

Other new features :
Support for "Action Group" members : Guests can now be designated to be member of Action Group or can themselves create an new account for planning the wedding of their siblings/children/etc.,. It is important to understand that such Action Group members, will have all privileges equal to that of the Bride/Groom, in using the tool and as such can be entrusted in organizing the wedding on their behalf.

MatrimonyPlanner is happy to announce the availability of the initial version of it's Free Online Wedding Planner.

The Online Wedding Planner enables easy, collaborated planning of events related to wedding. One can manage pre and post-wedding events like Bachelor/Bachelorette parties, Engagement, Wedding Ceremony, Reception(s), Honeymoon trips and Post-Wedding parties with relatives, friends and colleagues.

The tool enables one to identify and maintain details of Vendors and Service providers associated to each of the events and to add descriptive notes on details agreed upon with the service provider, for further references.

One can easily manage the tasks associated with the events using our Task Manager, which allows adding To-Do items, marking an expected date of completion, adding descriptive notes related to completing the task and to assign owners for each of the Task. Once the task is completed, it will be archived to Completed Tasks.

Another important feature in this tool is ability to manage Guest lists.

Guests can be categorized based on the the side (Bride's guest or the Groom's guest), Events for which they are to be invited, Mode of invite (In Person, Letter, E-Mail, etc.,.) along with additional tags like (may be something like Relative, School, Work, Vegetarian, Requires Accommodation, etc.,.).

Based on such categorizations and tagging, one can easily generate printable lists.

Assuming the Groom requires a printable address list for mailing invitations for the Wedding Reception, he can generate a (sticker-paper) printable address list in "Comic Sans MS" Font, with background and text colors matching the invitation envelopes for..

Snapshot of such a printable address list, using different templates, is given below. When using this feature, make sure you turn on "Print Background (Colors & images)" in the Page Setup options.

Importing Contact lists from GMail/Outlook and sending out E-Mail invitations from within MatrimonyPlanner, personalized with Mail Merge like features will be available in a couple of weeks.

In case you want something even more sooner, you can get use the "EMail-ID List" feature to get something like..

which will provide a list of ids (as shown in the image below), which can be directly copy-pasted and used with standard emailing software.

Other options like setting a background image for the sticker-paper printable address list, so as to match with the invitation cover, support for RSVPs, reminder notifications for task owners and reminders for guests at a designated dates prior to the wedding, are to be made available in subsequent upgrades.
